Sending files to others by FTP

FTP is perhaps the most widely used and most supported standard for transferring large files across the Internet. Magnetracks gives you the ability to send an unlimited number of audio files of documents to any FTP site, quickly and easily. The process is nearly identical when sending either documents or tracks, so we'll focus on the steps required to send tracks...

Step 1...
Beginning from your tracks list, select the tracks you'd like to transfer, and click the "Send Music" button at the top of the page. Remember, the items you select are saved for you when paging through multiple sets of results, so don't worry about your selected tracks when flipping through many pages.

Step 2... You'll get a pop-up dialog asking, "How would you like to send the selected tracks?". Choose "FTP Transfer". You are now redirected to the Send by FTP page.

Step 3... Select the intended recipient from the Recipient drop-down list. Note how their FTP site details fill in the fields below the recipient dropdown, if you had provided this info in their customer record. If not, simply provide a valid FTP address, username and password in these fields.

Step 4... If you'd like all the files to be placed in their own folder (rather than the root), add that in the Path to Folder field. Don't forget the preceding "/".

Step 5... By default, Magnetracks will send the main mix only for each track. You will also find options to send the track metadata, the album artwork (if applicable), and all alternate mixes and edit lengths for each track.

Step 6. Lastly, to send a notification email that provides a friendly message, and the FTP connection info for the recipient to download the tracks, select the Send Notification Emailcheckbox. Traditional email options will then appear.

Step 7. When satisfied, click the FTP Now button. All of the files you have selected will be added to a queue, and sent out as server resources and network traffic allow. When all of the files have been successfully delivered (usually within 15 minutes), an email report of deliveries and failures will be sent to the main administrative address of your Magnetracks account.
